Board of Directors

A working board, rooted in second chances.

Restorative Roots is led by an unpaid, working board — some of us with lived experience — with one goal: making Northwest Arkansas a safer place for everyone, rooted in second chances.

Meet the board

Kenny Rogers

President & Co-Founder

Kenny Rogers

Kenny Rogers brings a servant’s heart and seasoned leadership to Restorative Roots. He believes everyone makes mistakes, and his faith tells him people deserve second chances. That conviction is why he serves with nonprofits: to make the world better in whatever way he can. At Restorative Roots, it means giving people coming home from prison a safe place to live, people who believe in them, and a clear path to stand on their own, because a safer Northwest Arkansas starts there.

Over a 25-year career in technology and cybersecurity leadership, Kenny has led teams, built programs from the ground up, and earned a reputation for turning complex investments into measurable results. He brings the same discipline to the work behind the mission: building the organization’s website and systems, guiding its licensing and planning, and making sure every dollar and every decision serves the people coming home and the neighborhoods they return to.

Kenny has served on three nonprofit boards in Northwest Arkansas and serves with Celebrate Recovery in Rogers. He and his wife, Jacque, live in Fayetteville with their two children and the family dog, and are part of Fellowship Bible Church in Rogers and Fayetteville.

Charlene Fields

Charlene Fields

Charlene Fields is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 10 years in the field of recovery. As the owner of Acceptance Treatment, she has built her work around a heart for helping people heal. Her own testimony and experience in recovery let her meet the people she serves with real understanding. Her holistic approach draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

Charlene has served on nonprofit boards and led nonprofit organizations, and she continues to serve on boards that support people in recovery. Charlene is a believer whose faith guides her work, and she attends Engaged Ministries Church. She lives in Rogers with her husband, Tyler, and is a proud mother of two and a grandmother.

Karen Hill

Co-Founder

Karen Hill

Karen Hill is a licensed mortgage professional and the owner of Advantage One in Rogers. She enjoys helping clients, friends, and family find the loan that fits their financial health. She believes everyone has the right to safe, affordable housing, because a stable home is where individuals and families grow strong, heal, and thrive in our community.

Karen is in sustained, long-term recovery, and she knows the barriers people in recovery face in the rental market. For many of them, owning a home removes one of the biggest obstacles to a lasting recovery, and she is grateful to help people reach that goal. She draws on her life, work, and personal experience to help others find a healthy, successful path forward. Karen has also served on nonprofit boards and led nonprofit organizations, and she brings that experience to Restorative Roots.

Karen and her husband, Lewis, make their home in Van Buren and also have a home near Beaver Lake. A mother of five with grandchildren nearby, she is deeply rooted in the region, surrounded by a family that invests in her and in the community they call home.

Why We Serve

A working board, not a paid one

Northwest Arkansas is full of talent and resources. But for someone coming home from incarceration, there are very few places to get their life back in order. We feel led to help close that gap — to give people a real second chance, not just a release date.

Ours is a working board, and no one is paid. Members don't just meet and vote; they roll up their sleeves — setting direction, overseeing finances, building community partnerships, and connecting participants to housing, jobs, and services across the region.

When people coming home have a stable place to land, the whole community is safer. That's the goal behind everything we do.

Every board seat is unpaid. Members serve because they believe in the mission.

The commitment: board members donate at least $500 annually, serve on at least one committee, and attend board meetings.

Lived experience with the justice system is valued here, not just welcomed. No nonprofit board experience required.

Committee Members Needed

You don't need a board seat to make a difference.

We're a young organization founded on giving others second chances, and we need committee members to help us grow. If this mission stirs something in you, there's plenty of room to bring your skills, your network, and your heart to the work.

Fundraising & Events

Plan events, build donor relationships, and help keep the lights on and the beds full.

Housing & Property

Help find, prepare, and maintain safe homes for people coming home.

Community Partnerships

Connect us with employers, churches, landlords, and service providers across Northwest Arkansas.

Outreach & Communications

Tell the story — social media, newsletters, and getting the word out about second chances.

Committee roles are unpaid and flexible. No board experience required — just passion for the mission and a willingness to show up. Committee service is also a great way to get to know us before applying for a board seat.
